China straddling bus [ENGLISH computer voice over] the only English video

0:18At present, there are mainly 4 types of public transits in China: 0:21subway, light-rail train, BRT, and normal bus. 0:26They have advantages and disadvantages, for example, subway costs a lot and takes long time to build;0:32BRT takes up road spaces and produces noises as well as pollution to the air. How to develop environmental-friendly public transportation? Straddling bus provides a solution. Let’s watch a demonstration.0:46This is what the interior looks like: it has huge skylight that will eliminate passengers’ sense of depression when enter.0:56The straddling bus combines the advantages of BRT, it is also a substitution for BRT and subway in the future. 1:17As you all know, the majority vehicles on the road are cars, the shortest vehicles are also cars. 1:25Normally our overpass is 4.5-5.5 m high. 1:31The highlight innovation of straddling bus is that it
runs above cars and under overpass. 1:35Its biggest strength is saving road spaces, efficient and high in capacity. 1:42There are also two ways in dealing with station platform. One is to load/unload through the sides; the other is using the built-in ladder so that passengers can go up and to the overpass through the ceiling door.1:54There are two parts in building the straddling bus. 1:57One is remodeling the road, the other is building station platforms. 2:02Two ways to remodel the road: we can go with laying rails on both sides of car lane, which save 30% energy;2:10or we can paint two white lines on both sides and use auto-pilot technology in the bus, which will follow the lines and run stable.2:19Another strength of straddling bus is its short construction life cycle: only 1 year to build 40 km. Sam and Amy Castle- Cuppycakes combined...

On November 13th, 2008, I had the pleasure of meeting Sam, the adorable boy who did a lip-syncing rendition of my Cuppycake song.

The show, "The Doctors" saw the video of him on YouTube, and wanted to have him on their show. They tracked Sam down, and found out that he lives in Alaska with his parents and siblings.

He has a rare kidney condition, and takes steroids to keep him alive. The steroids have stunted his growth, resulting in his chubbier appearance.

Sam and his mother Angie flew all the way from Alaska to be on "The Doctors." They're going to put him in touch with the best doctors to try to find an alternative medicine to help him get better.

Sam is an extremely intelligent young man. We spent our time talking about video games, and youtube. He's seen some of the not so nice comments on his video, and they're tough for him to read. He hopes that people won't judge him before knowing his story.

Update: His episode of The Doctors will air on December 1st. Check your local listings for the channel and time.
